Taste and See

Psalms 107:9 for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.

I woke up today with a song in my heart. I’ve been singing it all day.

Come to the River

As I think about why this song feels so satisfying to my soul, I realize that the song itself is praising God’s ability to satisfy His children!

Come to the water
All who are thirsty
Come and drink
Come to the table
All who are hungry
Come and feast
Those who are weary, Those who are needy
Come receive
Come to the river
Come to the river
Taste and see

John 4:14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.

To be satisfied is SO fulfilling. You can have little money, very few possessions, very few qualifications — and be satisfied in God.

Psalms 145:16 You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing.

He satisfies us with His peace. Anyone who has ever lacked peace knows what a blessing it is to have it.

Psalms 29:11 The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people with peace.

Marriages fall apart when partners feel they aren’t being satisfied in some way. People fall into bankruptcy when things they can financially afford don’t satisfy them. As people fall deep into certain types of addiction, it becomes deadly because no amount keeps them satisfied. When we build an intimate relationship with our Heavenly Father, He satisfies us in ways that only He can.

Isaiah 58:11 The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.

Where His peace remains, there is no worry — and there is satisfaction. Our Heavenly Father gives peace favorably to those who seek Him.

Isaiah 26:3 You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!

I am so grateful for God’s peace. The only thing I want more of is Him. As I seek Him, He keeps me satisfied as we grow in relationship. It surpasses my understanding how I can yearn for Him — and be satisfied at the same time, trusting that it gets deeper. I praise His name. He is worthy to be praised!

Psalms 103:2-5 Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits–who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

Taste and see that He is Good!

Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
