Unfolding heart

Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls. 1 Peter 1:8-9

Hello blog readers…

I don’t have many words tonight. I just love Him so much. He’s given me irreplaceable, inexpressible joy. My heart unfolds before Him. He is Wonderful, and there is no one like Him.

“Joyful, joyful Lord, we adore Thee
God of Glory, Lord of Love
Hearts unfold like flowers before Thee
Hail Thee as the sun above”

Worship Him. He deserves your heart more than anyone or anything. Sing to Him. Adore Him. Worship Him. Tell Him how great He is. He is the cure for whatever troubles your heart. He is the answer to every prayer.

“Melt the clouds of sin and sadness
Drive the dark of doubt away
Giver of immortal gladness
Fill us with the light of day.”

If you have Him, you have everything. If you have Him, you are rich. Treasure Him more than anything. Love Him more than anything.

Matthew 22:37-38 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’This is the first and greatest commandment.

You want effective change?

Hello blog readers. I had a conversation tonight after prayer service at my church that I want to share. I believe it will bless someone.

One of my sister’s in Christ asked me for advice in how to effectively share the gospel to a particular person. The person she wants to share with is a co-worker, and a Jehovah’s Witness. The reason she asked me for advice is because I was raised as a Jehovah’s Witness until my teenage years. Although I stopped going to the Kingdom Hall, I carried many of the beliefs that I was taught with me for the majority of my life. Ultimately, the only One who can undo and correct a lifetime of teaching is the Holy Spirit.

Ezekiel 36:26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.

In my earlier years, I wouldn’t have believed that I had a heart of stone. Because of what I was taught, I rejected the gospel of Christ dying, and rising up to purchase a place in heaven for me. My heart was stone, and I was unaware. I’m in awe of what God did to my heart. He kept His word.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

You want effective change? Never underestimate the power of prayer. It’s the most powerful tool we have as believers.

1 Timothy 2:1-4 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people– for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

Pray for others to come to know Christ in an intimate way. Pray for them to experience the goodness of having a relationship with God. Prayer isn’t just about yourself. God wants us to pray for others.

James 5:16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

If you don’t know how to have an intimate relationship with God, I strongly encourage you to cultivate a prayer life. The more you pray, the more He will become real to you. God loves when we come to Him in prayer just to talk. He loves when we come to Him in prayer to give Him honor and praise. God expects us to come to Him in prayer when we need things, because He is a Provider and a loving Father.  And, He loves when we pray for others to come to know Him. This is good, and pleases God our Savior.

If there are family members or friends in your life that you want to know Christ, and they aren’t seemingly interested — your job is to pray for them.  Love them, and trust God to open hearts in His timing.

Jeremiah 24:7 I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the LORD. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me with all their heart.

Because God said so…

Hello blog readers,

I’ve been wanting to share something with you for a few days. One of my church pastors shared something with me after bible study that made a ‘light bulb’ go off in my head… Maybe someone else will be encouraged to hear it too. It’s a quote by the late Manley Beasley.

Faith is believing something to be so,
when it doesn’t appear to be so,
in order for it to be so,
  because God said so.”

The last line in that quote is the most important, and has been altered over time. Here’s why it’s important:

It doesn’t matter how strongly you trust in something, if it’s a promise that God never made. You can claim it, speak it, place hope in it, and strongly believe in it — But if it’s not God’s will for you, He won’t compromise for your will to be done… or my will. God has the final say. His will be done always and forever.

The object of your faith is what saves. “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.”

Be encouraged knowing that if you believed in it, and applied works to achieve it…and it never happened — It wasn’t God’s will for your life. The experience may have been necessary to receive what He has for you. It could have been a decision that was completely out of God’s will for you — Everyone has made wrong choices. But take heart: “We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Don’t let life’s disappointments weaken your faith in God. He always delivers on His Word.

Numbers 23:19 God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?

He won’t ever forget you.

Joshua 21:45 Not one of all the LORD’s good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.

proverbs 3 5-6

“Be still, and know…”

Hello blog readers.

Tonight, I wanted to be alone. I wanted some alone time to pray. It’s one horrific story after another rocking this nation. People are mourning, outraged, shocked, and terrified. I wanted to go somewhere to pray where no one would hear me, or see me if I cried. So I got in the shower.

I prayed in the shower for a while, asking for some pretty big things… Peace and protection for every single person in the latest city under attack…. Destroy the spirit of fear, revenge, hate in their atmosphere. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (Eph 6:12) That’s a job only God can handle.

While I’m in my place of prayer, my son – who I thought was asleep-  yells through the door, “Mom!!!!!!” It startled me. I asked what’s wrong? .. and he says in a near-panic voice, “My ear!!! Something is shocking my ear!”

I answered, “I don’t understand. What do you mean? Is something poking you in your ear that might be sticking out of the mattress?”  He said, “Noooo mom, my ear… something is sticking me!!!” The troubling of his voice concerned me, so from the shower, I wrapped the shower curtain around me and stuck my head out and told him to come so I could look. He pointed at the tiniest speck of a pimple on the outer part of his ear. There was a tiny white dot, where a pimple was forming. I told him, “Son, it looks like a pimple is forming in that spot. It will probably tingle a little or be a little sore, but it will be ok.” He was satisfied with my answer, and went back to bed.

As soon as he left, the Holy Spirit helped me understand something.  My son called on me for something that was of huge concern to him. To me, it was a small pimple. He was uncomfortable, and came to me for help. I was in the middle of intimate prayer, in the shower. My initial instinct wasn’t to say, I’m busy, or wait until I come out of the shower. I immediately called him to me. I was concerned about what troubled him. This isn’t to pat myself on the back, because any other day I would have told him to wait. I have a rule with him. Don’t bother me when I’m worshiping (unless you want to worship too) or praying — unless it’s an emergency. But tonight was different. From my perspective, his dilemma was something I knew would be healed in a short amount of time. And if need be, I’ll give whatever treatment in my power to that pimple until he’s comfortable.

If we wouldn’t hesitate to tend to the needs of our children, even in the smallest knicks and bruises — how much more would God tend to our broken and terrified hearts? He actually invites us to throw our burdens on Him.

1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Nothing is too big for Him. The only thing he cannot do is lie.

It’s never a bad time to approach Him in prayer. He’s never too busy. There is never an inappropriate time to pray. You’re His child, and He cares for you. You’re never an inconvenience. Talk to Him. Tell Him your worries, and concerns.. and trust Him to work on your behalf. His thoughts are Higher than our thoughts and His timing is Perfect. So don’t think He has to answer you in “your” way or “your” timing. His decision is always the right decision. We’re not promised a pain-free life. We’re promised Him, and He gives strength to get through every situation that Satan hopes will crush us.

Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

Nothing in this world can, or ever will, catch Him by surprise. The enemy is a liar. He comes only to kill, steal, and destroy. The enemy hopes and deeply desires to kill, steal, and destroy our faith in God’s promises — and he will do anything to convince us that God has left us.

Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

fear not

“if my people…”

Hello blog readers.

Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

My heart goes out today for the many people hurting around the world. I encourage you to give all your worries and cares to God, because He cares for you. (1 Peter 5:7)

Psalms 34:18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Day after day tragedy strikes somewhere. Within the recent days and weeks there has been a rash of tragedies. More teenagers have died in my area because of gun violence this year than the last 4 years combined. Everyday, the news top stories are horrific. 215 killed in Baghdad terror attack. Terrorist shoots up an Orlando nightclub. Suicide bomber in Istanbul airport. Officer involved shootings across the U.S. That’s just a snippet of the violence from 2016. Many are crushed in spirit.

Pslam 37:7 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.

2 Timothy 3:1 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.

But there is hope.

2 Chronicles 7:14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

That’s a wonderful promise. When tragedy strikes, many ask “What will be done? What can be done?”

People of God, Let us all humble ourselves, pray and seek his face, and turn from our wicked ways. If we do this, He will heal our land… because He cannot lie.

Hebrews 6:18 God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged.
