9 in 10. Lord, Help.

I’m frustrated, and all I can do is pray.

Unfortunately, for my son – he’s gotten the short-tempered responses… because I’m hurt. I just want quiet, and he wants to talk…more than he ever talks. Looking back, maybe the Lord knows I needed something else to think about.

“Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear.” Isaiah 65:24

9 murders in 10 days. Lord, help us.

I hurt for the woman who was killed today. I don’t know her — but it could have been anyone. I’m sorry that for the last 10 days, someone’s murder is the lead story in Mobile’s news. I’m so sorry this happened to her.

delauna

5am on her way to work – shot multiple times at an intersection in her car. Motive, robbery. She was a mother. Her birthday is 3 days from today. She didn’t make it. She was 24. My heart hurts for her. It hurts for her child.  She was on her way to work… at 5am. 3 days ago, I was on my way to work at 5am. Like her, I’m a mother — who’s child depends on me to come home everyday.

Her name was De’Launa. She was my “breaking news” today.  Breaking news usually means someone’s life has changed forever… or has ended.

I pray that she knew you, Jesus. I pray that she is with you. Please wrap your arms around her family and friends. You’re the only One who can heal the wounds caused by death.       “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” – Psalms 147:3

If you’re reading this, please say a prayer for Mobile, Alabama. Pray for protection for the people here. Pray that the Holy Spirit convicts the hearts of those who plot evil. Pray for De’Launa’s family… and the families of all the victims. Pray that the murders stop, in Jesus name.

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. James 5:16
