Dive In: Philippians 4:13

I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. – Philippians 4:13

Hello blog readers! For everyone participating in the #2019DiveinChallenge, we are spending some time thinking about a short, but powerful scripture. As I was thinking about what new verse to focus om for this challenge, the Lord reminded me to remember what I already know.

As you spend time meditating on this verse, write down the scripture and insert “what you can do” through Him who strengthens you. Make your own list. Here’s mine:

I can wait patiently on God’s promises through Christ who gives me strength.
I can overcome heartache through Christ who gives me strength.
I can forgive others through Christ who gives me strength.
I can break bad habits through Christ who gives me strength.
I can make wise choices through Christ who gives me strength.
I can stop worrying through Christ who gives me strength.

As we go through this week together, I pray that you experience the freedom and power in knowing that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.

**The goal of the #2019DiveInChallenge is to intentionally spend more time in God’s word, and commit to memorizing scripture. When the word of God is hidden in your heart, you will begin to realize what Jesus meant when he said, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full (John 10:10b NIV).”  That same verse in the NLT translation says, “My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”

My heart’s anthem

Hello blog readers,
I want to share one of my journal entries with you. A few nights ago, I sat in my room, wanting to spend time with God. The most comforting thoughts came to me from the Holy Spirit. I wrote them down, and re-read them today. They are so comforting to me still, and I pray these words fill you with hope.

“I am with God. You are bathed and clothed in righteousness. You are loved beyond your understanding. You are loved beyond your own comprehension. You are blessed and favored. I am with God, and you are given favor by Him that made the earth. You have taken back the enemy’s turf. The way to God is through him that died for your sins. He is able to do things you cannot. Be free in God’s Son. Be free in Jesus. I am God’s spirit. I have plans to give you hope and a future.

Sincere appreciation for God’s spirit will result in many things. Good things. Many good things belong to those who love God and obey the word of God… who look to Him for provision, and worry not about things on their own mind. Give matters to God. He will give back peace of mind and offer abilities that no man can offer. Give Him your heart, and He will give back more than you can imagine. It’s the best decision one can make — to give himself/herself to God for the purpose of eternal salvation. Hope is given. Repair is expected. Blessed are all who wait on the Lord.

Let this be your heart’s anthem: God LOVES me!”

Wisdom says this

Hello blog readers,
I want to share something with you that has really blessed me. God has been ministering to me about wisdom lately. I was recently working to memorize the first chapter of Ephesians — which is a beautiful reminder of God’s gifts of forgiveness, redemption & His precious Holy Spirit to us — when my heart became drawn to scripture about wisdom. Everyday, I listen to Proverbs 8 and 9 on audio bible. I can’t get enough of hearing about the attributes of wisdom, as found  in those chapters. The more I hear, the more I desire His wisdom.  One evening, I sat quietly, waiting for God to reveal to me what I can do now to have His wisdom. He began to minister to my heart.. and I began to write:

“Wisdom says this: Whoever eats this meat I have prepared will live. I make my place in the heart of God’s servant. To worship Him is the beginning of wisdom. To fear Him is where worship begins. Adoring, admiring, looking to for sound judgment, appreciating Him, loving Him with all your heart is where it begins. I, wisdom, am new to nothing. I’ve been around since before the earth was formed. I love the children of man. If you love me, I give back more than you can imagine. I waste nothing. Time nor money can compare to what I bring forth. I waste nothing. Time nor money can bring you  peace of mind, but I can resolve anything. I have an answer for every situation. I am worth the wait. I am worth the wait. I am worth the wait. I will bless you immensely. I will give you more than you ask for. Your face will shine in the presence of God’s love. My child, you will hear me say, well done. You are loved. Amen.”

Proverbs 4:7 The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.

Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

You are loved, child of God. You are well prepared for more than you realize. You are well prepared for growth. Get wisdom.

*Read Proverb 8 & 9, Isaiah 11:2

You are destined for more

Hello blog readers,
This morning I woke up hearing the Holy Spirit say “You are destined for more”. The words caused me to become curious about what the “more” is. I immediately grabbed my journal and wrote, “Does it mean I’ll have more? or experience more? or know more? or see/hear more? Yes? Either way, it’s good. It’s all good.”

Soon after I woke up, I remembered a dream. I know the dream was from God, because I felt total peace, even though I was observing a very serious situation. It was a news article I came across online that triggered me to remember that I had the dream. Once I remembered it, I got a little nervous – thinking that my son might be in some kind of potential danger.

In the dream, I watched my son sleeping. My son is currently 9-years-old, but in the dream, he was a baby, probably around 1 year old. He was sleeping inside a car as I watched… a hot car. I saw his face turning red as he slept. He wasn’t fussy. He just slept. He even looked comfortable. I recall the thought “it is illegal for him to be there, asleep in a hot car” going through my mind in the dream – But I was calmly observing, and knew that I would remove him before he was harmed. Then I observed myself, pick him up, and take him out of the car. I watched myself coddle him, and rock him in my arms, and love him. He remained quiet as I held him. He was safe when I woke up.

I prayed, asking God to reveal what the dream meant. As I continued to search for the meaning, I heard the Holy Spirit say, “The child was you.” He revealed to me that before I turned away from my sinful ways, and gave my life to Him, I was resting in a lifestyle that would eventually lead to death. I was sleeping through life, unaware of the potential danger that I had placed myself in. He revealed that my body, was not designed to rest in that harmful atmosphere. He revealed that unless I was removed from that confined place, my life was at risk. The hot car represented my lifestyle of sin.  And just as the thought came to mind in the dream: “it is illegal for him to be there, asleep in a hot car” — we must understand that it is against God’s spiritual law for us to remain resting in sin. It’s like sleeping in a hot car. As long as I remain in that hot car, I’m in danger.

No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him. Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. 1 John 3:6-7

He revealed that when I picked my child up in the dream, he didn’t resist me. He willingly rested in my arms and allowed me to love him. He didn’t kick and scream and cry because I interrupted his sleep.  If you’ve ever interrupted a sleeping child, you might know how it can cause a bit of an attitude.

As God’s children, we must allow Him to interrupt us, and pick us up from harmful situations. Rest in His arms.  You were never designed to rest in sin. Resting in sin causes our spiritual health to suffer. You are destined for more.

we don’t pray

Hello blog readers.. I didn’t intend to write what I’m about to write.. Honestly, I never thought about it in this way before today…

This evening I prayed for things regarding our nation, and world. For the past few months, I’ve committed to praying more – -for others, for myself, for strangers, for whoever/whatever God places on my heart. As I prayed tonight, the Holy Spirit interceded, and totally grieved my spirit.

In the middle of my prayer, my heart became grieved — as if it were broken. I sobbed and wept and asked God to forgive us. We have turned away from Him- and it hurts His heart. I wrote down some things that the Holy Spirit interceded on behalf of:

We don’t pray. We only pray when we want something. We only pray for people we know, and not for people we don’t know. We only pray for government leaders when we fear how it might affect us. We don’t consult God, and ask Him for His wisdom. We consult ourselves. We rely on ourselves, and not God. We rely on our own counsel. We rely on our money. We rely on our relationships. We rely on our image to sustain us. We have forgotten about the covenant God made with us. A covenant is an agreement. He promised to make a people for Himself, and He has kept His word. You have been set apart as holy to the LORD your God, and he has chosen you from all the nations of the earth to be his own special treasure. He is faithful to His covenant. We are unfaithful. We have given our hearts to things of the world. We cry out to Him only when we need Him. We blame Him for our problems. We mistreat Him. We don’t invest in relationship with Him. He deserves better than we offer Him. We don’t know Him like we could.

He’s the same God who sent His only Son to die for us.  He’s the same God who called Abraham His friend. He’s the same God who brought life from the dead womb of Sarah. He’s the same God who Moses relied on for miracles. He’s the same miracle-working God who David served. He’s the same God who defeats giants. He’s the same God who fights our battles – and gives us victory. He is the same now as He was before He laid the foundation of the earth.

James 1:17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

We are Gomer – the wife of Hosea, to Him. We prostitute our hearts before Him. We turn away from Him every chance we get. We cheat on Him with other gods, with things of the world.. We idolize people! We idolize money, and possessions. We covet the things that others possess. We put many things before Him. And then, we ask Him to help us. We don’t live for Him, but we look for His blessing. We ignore Him — until we need Him for something.

Imagine how we hurt the heart of God. Jesus endured the cross for us, and we still pain Him. We still pierce Him. We don’t even acknowledge God. We live our lives for us, not Him.  Father forgive us. Please Father, forgive us.

Holy Spirit, give us no more than we can bear – but burden our hearts so that we become a prayerful people. Do whatever needs to be done Father, to make us pray. We need revival Father. We need this. I want this for us, and for YOU. I want you to be loved by your people. I want Your heart to be filled with love from your people. ALL of your people — not one be left out. You are Love. All I have is my heart, and I give it to you. We are sinners who have fallen short. Take our hearts, and clean them up. Turn us into a people who pray.

if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 chronicles 7:14

If you said it, I believe it. I believe 2 chronicles 7:14. Turn us into a people who prays with our families, and in private, and in public. You cannot lie, and if you could, you wouldn’t — because you are good and righteous.

Proverbs 8:8 All the words of my mouth are righteous; there is nothing twisted or crooked in them.

You want effective change?

Hello blog readers. I had a conversation tonight after prayer service at my church that I want to share. I believe it will bless someone.

One of my sister’s in Christ asked me for advice in how to effectively share the gospel to a particular person. The person she wants to share with is a co-worker, and a Jehovah’s Witness. The reason she asked me for advice is because I was raised as a Jehovah’s Witness until my teenage years. Although I stopped going to the Kingdom Hall, I carried many of the beliefs that I was taught with me for the majority of my life. Ultimately, the only One who can undo and correct a lifetime of teaching is the Holy Spirit.

Ezekiel 36:26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.

In my earlier years, I wouldn’t have believed that I had a heart of stone. Because of what I was taught, I rejected the gospel of Christ dying, and rising up to purchase a place in heaven for me. My heart was stone, and I was unaware. I’m in awe of what God did to my heart. He kept His word.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

You want effective change? Never underestimate the power of prayer. It’s the most powerful tool we have as believers.

1 Timothy 2:1-4 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people– for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

Pray for others to come to know Christ in an intimate way. Pray for them to experience the goodness of having a relationship with God. Prayer isn’t just about yourself. God wants us to pray for others.

James 5:16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

If you don’t know how to have an intimate relationship with God, I strongly encourage you to cultivate a prayer life. The more you pray, the more He will become real to you. God loves when we come to Him in prayer just to talk. He loves when we come to Him in prayer to give Him honor and praise. God expects us to come to Him in prayer when we need things, because He is a Provider and a loving Father.  And, He loves when we pray for others to come to know Him. This is good, and pleases God our Savior.

If there are family members or friends in your life that you want to know Christ, and they aren’t seemingly interested — your job is to pray for them.  Love them, and trust God to open hearts in His timing.

Jeremiah 24:7 I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the LORD. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me with all their heart.

The real MVP

Hello blog readers! Yesterday, I took time to think and reflect on how good God has been to me. He is constantly molding and transforming my thoughts and heart. He’s always teaching. I love it. When we invest in a relationship with Him, every area of life improves.

John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

I had to remind my son recently that the only thing free in life is our salvation. That’s it. No matter what your definition of earthly success is, you have to work for it. If you inherit it, you still have to invest in it to maintain it. Real growth will cost you 3 things: commitment, diligence, and sacrifice. Even though heaven is a free gift, the earthly benefits of receiving salvation will cost the same 3 things. Commitment, diligence, and sacrifice. Try binding the enemy, and healing in the name of Jesus WITHOUT committing your heart to Him, and living with Him as your Lord. The power isn’t in the words “in the name of Jesus”… The power is Jesus.

John 15:5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

Commitment, diligence, and sacrifice. Those 3 things offer both physical and spiritual benefits.

Spiritually, when we commit to living under the Lordship of Jesus, remain in him, and sacrifice the things of the world for the things of God, AMAZING things happen. Our heart and mind becomes transformed. Child of God, you become the person God sees when He created you — and you ARE beautiful.

Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

We live in a fallen world — and, it is challenging sometimes to focus on spiritual growth when there is lacking in the physical. In the Bible, Jesus often times would satisfy a person’s physical need first. He wants all of our physical needs to be met. He healed and blessed people without hesitation, and that drew them in so their hearts and souls could be touched.  Once your heart is touched by Jesus, and you open up to Him, the holy spirit teaches you how to apply scripture and ‘have life to the full’.

John 14:26 “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.

When Jesus came and died for us it cost him at least 3 things: Commitment, diligence, and sacrifice. He had to commit to saving us. He had to be diligent through all of Satan’s attempts to  cause him to fail. He sacrificed spending his time in a perfect heaven, to come to a fallen world and become a living sacrifice for the sins of man. He’s more than your best friend. He’s your Savior. And when we allow him, he aligns our hearts with his, through power of the holy spirit — transforming our cold, selfish, stubborn hearts into hearts that love, give freely, and recognize the gift we have in Him.

Hebrews 12:2 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.

Jesus is the real MVP. The real Champ. The Greatest of all time.

Psalms 51:10 Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

Hope, Trust and Wait

Hello blog readers! It’s been over a week since I’ve posted an article. I have missed you, but I’ve been waiting on God to reveal to me what I should write about. I never want to write from my own wisdom because the truth is, I have none. All my strength, wisdom, and words of encouragement come from the Lord. I depend on the Holy Spirit to tell me what to write — and I’ve been waiting on Him.

Last night, as I was drifting off to sleep, He spoke one of my favorite scriptures to me. I’ve included it in several of my blogs.

Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

What a wonderful surprise to hear a message of hope from the Holy Spirit!

This morning, before I felt fully awake, He spoke again. I was ironing my son’s clothes when I heard Him say “they will not grow weary”. I knew it was Him! But, I couldn’t remember exactly how the scripture read. So, I looked it up — and it was another message of hope!

Isaiah 40:31 (NIV) but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

He was encouraging me to hope in the Lord. What a blessing to hear Him. I looked up that same scripture in 3 different versions of the Bible.

(NLT) But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.

(ESV) but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Hope in… Trust in… Wait for the Lord. That’s exactly what I needed to hear — and I’m happy to share it with you.

The devil will not run you in the ground, or wear you out when you hope in, trust in, and wait for the Lord. he Can’t do it! Isaiah 40:31 … And, God can’t lie!

Hebrews 6:18 God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged.

Hope in… Trust in… Wait for the Lord.  Stand firm on God’s word and be greatly encouraged.

Philippians 4:1 Therefore, my brothers and sisters, you whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm in the Lord in this way, dear friends!

God’s word promises that He will renew your strength. You will soar high on wings like eagles. You will run and not be weary. You will walk and not faint.

You are worthy. Don’t give up! You are worthy because He made you worthy.

Colossians 1:12 and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.

Praise and Worship

**Note — this post was created as a “page”.. and you can access it from the upper right corner of my homepage for updates! I just wanted to share it under blog postings too (in case you didn’t notice it at the top of the homepage)**

John 4:24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.

This page is comprised of some of my favorite songs to listen to while I offer God praise and worship. It’s important to remember that worship is not a song, or singing. Worship comes from inside your heart! We worship by living holy. We worship by obeying God. We worship by loving and putting God first in our hearts.

Isaiah 25:1 LORD, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago.

More than anything by Joann Rosario

Good Good Father by Housefires

I Worship You by Mary Mary

I Give Myself Away by William McDowell

My God is Awesome

I Love the Lord by Whitney Houston

I choose to include Whitney’s version of this song — not because of her fame. We all know she battled many demons. But even in the midst of her battles, when she submitted herself to do a work for God, He used her. This song touches my heart every time I hear it in a way that can only be touched with help from the Holy Spirit.

Psalm 150:6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD.

This Love by Housefires II

More to be added….

Psalm 116:1-2 I love the LORD, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy. Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live.

I woke up this morning with worship on my heart. I have been giving God worship all day. I created this worship page first thing this morning. Tonight, I sat down to fold clothes and started listening to Pastor Joann Rosario Condrey. I had no idea that the video I chose, would cause me to put everything on hold…gravitate to the screen, and pour out my heart, tears, and worship to Jehovah. I’m thankful for Him. I’m thankful for His Son, my Savior. He is worthy to be worshiped! If I’m going to have a page specifically for worship — this video has to be included. I can feel His presence through the screen!!!
